Polymorphism and Association of the Novel KCTD2 Gene with Flavor and Odor in Indonesian Local Sheeps

A candidate marker that influences the flavor and odor of Indonesian sheep is Potassium Channel Tetramerization Domain Containing 2 (KCTD2) gene. This study aims to examine polymorphism association between KCTD2 gene lamb in local sheeps. used DNA taken from longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle 100 rams including 75 Javanese Thin-Tail (JTTS), 10 Fat-Tail Sheep (JFTS), 15 Jonggol (JS), with ranged weight 20 35 kg were 12 months old. The PCR-RFLP technique GLM test analysis identify polymorphisms restriction enzyme BafI digests product results showed was polymorphic (CC CT). a significant (P<0.05) 3-Methylphenol (MP). research provide information regarding role odor, especially (MP) compounds, explain as functional selection premium low meat.
